Over the last few weeks we have had a large focus on the extra curricula aspects of the College. Last week the College production highlighted the tremendous amount of cultural talent that we have within the College. I am sure that all those that attended will agree, that the show was an outstanding success. It is so wonderful to see so many of our students involved in the production both on stage and behind the scenes. A very positive aspect of the production is the way in which junior students are involved in developing their talents for future years and providing us with a sound future for cultural events. Another very positive aspect of the production is seeing the students working as a team towards achieving success for each other. Developing students support for each other is a key aspect of what we do at Verdon College and I would like to thank all those involved for providing such an excellent opportunity for our students. Similarly, I have been visiting many of the sports fixtures around town to support our students. What is clear to me is that sport at Verdon College is in very good heart. At all levels of sport and in a wide variety of codes student participation is increasing. While there is clearly a competitive spirit demonstrated on the court or field there is also a great camaraderie in teams and a clear ethos of fair play in all of the teams that I have watched so far. I would like to thank all those coaches and managers along with parents and supporters for getting the winter sports season off to such a wonderful start. Finally, I would like us all to keep in our thoughts those in our community that are coping with difficult times at the moment through illness of family members. I would ask you, as a community to offer support wherever we can and to keep these families in our prayers.
God Bless Jarlath Kelly
