We have completed another very positive two weeks at the College. Students continue to be involved in so many positive extra curricular activities in a range of areas. The level of contribution of students to their peers and community through the Social Justice group and students visiting our Catholic primary schools has been very pleasing. Students have assisted with the delivery of Kapa haka at St Theresa’s, our Gifted and Talented Science Group delivering science lessons to students at St Patrick Primary and our Production students have been working with students at Scared Heart school. It has been very pleasing to see the leadership shown by students who have contributed to the organisation of these links with our wider Catholic family.
A very big congratulations to our Senior A netball team who are again Southland Champions. Their victory in this competition is reward for the hard work that the team have put in over the last few years and a fantastic achievement for the 13 students in their last year at the College. Also very satisfying has been the way that younger players have stepped up to fill roles within the team this year. We thank Robyn Broughton and Karen Telfer for their support of the girls and wish them well as they prepare for tournament later in the year.
Finally, I would like to request that all families support the Cheese Roll Fundraiser that is enclosed with this newsletter. The PTA work very hard on this fundraiser and would very much appreciate support of other parents by assisting in the making of the cheese rolls. The money from this fundraiser will be used to provide funds for the College to redevelop the hall seating and provide a contribution to the development of the stage area.
God Bless Jarlath Kelly
