Kia ora koutou katoa The atmosphere within the College continues to be extremely positive. We have just completed our second round of fortnightly reports and I am very pleased to see so many of the students of the College striving for excellence. It is also very pleasing to see so many of our students having success in regional sporting competitions already this year. Further to the update on our students achievement in NCEA last year, recent roll based results available through NZQA have shown that Verdon College was the highest performing school in Invercargill at all three levels of NCEA last year. This is an outstanding result and something that we can all be very proud of. As a community we have worked very hard to achieve this success and it is fantastic to see this work paying dividends. This result is also a very strong endorsement of the approach the College has implemented to support the success of all learners. We have been very pleased with the number of parents and community members that have put their names forward to assist with sports at the College and the new sports council. We have recently developed a Verdon College sports web page which is able to be accessed through the general Information section of the College web page. Parents and students will be able to access sports through the sports page and will be able to complete enrolments for sports online. We hope that this development will assist in students ability to access and participate in sporting activities at the College. Finally, I would ask that we keep in our prayers those members of our community that are dealing with illness at this time. God Bless Jarlath Kelly
