Welcome back to the new term.  The students of the College seem well rested after a well-deserved break following a busy and successful term 1. The start of a new term always bring the promise of new opportunities and it is exciting to see the students getting into their work in the classroom and sporting and cultural endeavours in such a positive and enthusiastic manner around the College.

We are looking forward to the commencement of winter sports seasons.  Sport at Verdon College is an important part of what we do.  We would like to think that all of our students would make the most of sporting opportunities within the College. We also very much appreciate the support of parents in assisting students accessing the sporting opportunities available at Verdon as it is such an important part of students development and wellbeing.

We are aware that cost and transport issues can be a barrier to some students and we are always happy to see what we can do to help so that students are able to play sport. While we have chosen and selected teams and deadlines may have passed for entries for some sports we are happy to assist any student that has missed entry to any sport to enable them to play for Verdon.

We are rapidly approaching the annual production performances of the ‘Sound of Music’. Unfortunately we are unable to sell tickets through the school office as in previous years.  Tickets are available through www.ticketdirect.co.nz or the Cue TV SIT Arcade on Don Street. This has changed our ability to be flexible on pricing.  We have provided a very reasonable priced family pass.  We hope to see as many families as possible supporting this wonderful production I am sure it will be as exciting and quality performance as always.

My best wishes to everyone for their endeavours this term.

God Bless

Jarlath Kelly
