Welcome back to the College for term three of the year. Last Sunday we had a very successful Open Day with even more interested families attending than in previous years.  It is clear that the good news about the high level and well-rounded achievement of our students is becoming a talking point within the  parent communities of contributing primaries beyond our Catholic contributing primary schools.

It was wonderful to see so many current families supporting the College along with prospective new parents at this event.  I would like to thank all those students of the College for volunteering to either be Guides or Demonstrators on the day. With almost 200 of the 660 students assisting with the day this was a wonderful expression of school spirit. I would like to thank the staff for their contribution to the day along with the PTA for their hospitality towards our prospective parents.

I would like to thank whanau members for attending our parent teacher  interviews over the last two weeks. It has been a great opportunity for teachers to discuss with parents and students strategies to maximize learning for our students.  Our staff thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to meet face to face with parents and I would continue to encourage parents to attend these evenings even if your child is achieving well and receiving positive reports.

This term seniors will be preparing for practice examinations in week five. Tutorials are already underway in many subjects.  We have set a number of school wide goals towards improving every students success in external examinations. Success in term 3 practice examinations is critical to maximize success later in the  term 4 external examinations. I would strongly encourage all students to be focused on studying hard for the internal examinations and making use of tutorials and the student material that is being provided through tutor groups to help to ensure their success.

With many events such as Bishop's Shield, Patronal Day, Kapa Haka Competition, House Drama and Blues Assembly scheduled this term we are looking forward to a very enjoyable and successful term.

God Bless

Jarlath Kelly
