On Friday we celebrated the Patronal day and the Assumption of Mary at Mass at St Theresa’s.  This Mass was a wonderful expression of our College's and communities collective faith.  I was particularly proud of the leadership of the liturgy by our senior students along with the prayerful reverence displayed by students in attendance.

Last week we celebrated St Dominican Day.  Each of these occasions is a time  to reflect on our College values reflect on the example our founders and founding orders  have provided us.  It is a time to ask ourselves are we truly living our values and if not to take steps to move closer to lives guided by our Gospel and school values.

It was my great pleasure to be with the students of the Bishop's Shield team to witness their performances on the way.  What made me particularly proud was the number of comments from staff from other schools about the open and friendly nature of our students at such a hard fought and competitive competition.  I would like to congratulate the students on their success and representation of the College. I would also like to thanks the staff that have supported our students in their preparation and over the Bishop's Shield weekend.  Your input in assisting our students success at this event is invaluable and greatly appreciated.

I also had the pleasure of watching two of our rugby teams in their finals the other week. I was so proud of the boys and their efforts this year and we are looking forward seeing where these boys take their rugby in the future. I have been very proud of our collaboration with Aurora College and Te Wharekura Arowhenua in proving opportunities for their boys within our rugby teams .  I would like to thank the boys and their whanau for the contribution that they have made to the success of these teams .

I would like to wish all those students involved in other sports all the best for the final weeks of their season and any upcoming finals that they may have in the next few weeks.

Finally, I would ask that we keep in our prayers all those members of our community that are struggling through serious illness or the serious illness of their family members.  We pray for their full recovery and for the gift of strength for family members at this time.

God Bless

Jarlath Kelly
