Kia ora koutou katoa I would like to begin by thanking the community for their support over the Bishop's Shield weekend particularly the PTA. All of the visitors to the College commented on the great hospitality and whanangatanga shown to them over the weekend. There were also many students that spent time over the weekend assisting with catering and the many jobs to make the event run smoothly. These events are a great opportunity for our students to experience some leadership opportunity and see behind the scene working of such a large event We had a very successful Open Day with good attendance. A big thank you goes to the PTA for their support of the day and showing our prospective new parents and students a warm Verdon welcome. I would like to thank all of those students that were tour guides and demonstrators on the day. We can be very proud of the way our students are so keen to support Open Day in such numbers. I have had a significant number of students and parents, that missed Open Day, come for a tour around the College. We are very open to letting people see the school in action and are happy for people wishing to do so appointment with Karyn Dykes in the school Office. Just a reminder if parents are having trouble scheduling an appointment with one of our parish priests due to family or work commitments, then we are happy to receive the applications in advance of the preference form. This can be completed separately prior to enrolment closing. Also a reminder that because Verdon College is a Special Character school students attending Verdon College on buses are not affected by the recent changes to the application of bus rules publicized in the media and in some school's recent publications.
God Bless Jarlath Kelly
