The last few weeks have been very positive in terms of students’ performance and teaching and learning in the College.  Students are well underway in their studies and continue to settle well to their work both in and out of the classroom.  It has been pleasing to see the number of students achieving top scholar awards in this latest round of fortnightly reports.  I would encourage parents to discuss their son’s or daughter progress in relation to the fortnightly report grades regularly.   Student engagement in the fortnightly report progress comes, in part, from conversations that occur between students and parents, and students and teachers about student progress in fortnightly report.  The system is based on having positive discussion around encouraging students to identify areas in their class work where they are perhaps not achieving to their potential and developing strategies to improve performance and achievement in the classroom. We encourage all students to continue to work hard to achieve to their full potential  in relation to fortnightly reports scores

At Verdon College we are committed to working closely in partnership with parents to develop the best outcomes for students at the College.  If parents would like to discuss issues relating to your son or daughter’s progress please make initial contact with the Dean of the year level.  Mr James Mackay our College Counsellor is always available to assist in any situation.  As Principal I am always happy to hear from parents and discuss any matter that will support your child’s learning.

Our PTA are currently running our oyster raffle.  I encourage all students and families to support the PTA and this fundraising effort.  The money raised from this will go towards further development of IT resources for our students.

God Bless

Jarlath Kelly
