Verdon College is a Catholic, Co-educational College for students in years 7 -13 with a roll of around 740 students.
We are small enough to develop a caring family environment, while still offering all the opportunities found at much larger schools.
We are very proud of our Catholic Special Character and the values that underpin all that we do at the College. Central to our ethos is the whanau and family approach to education. Students, staff and wider community work collaboratively to support each other's success and create an environment focused on the success of all community members.
Our College has a ongoing record of achieving outstanding success in NCEA qualifications and supporting students towards achieving their goals and aspirations. Over the past three years Verdon College has been the best performing secondary school in Invergargill, in NCEA qualifications, something that we as a community are very proud of.
Verdon College delivers a balanced holistic education and the College has a proud tradition of success in a wide range of sporting and cultural areas. Our focus on developing the whole student gives students at Verdon College an advantage through a deeper understanding of what is required to success in a variety of situations.
We are always pleased to welcome new family members to our college community and would be pleased to introduce you to our approach to achieving success.
A Message from the Principal
It is my pleasure to lead a Catholic College with a staff that model our values and that are committed to quality teaching and learning for all students.
As a community we are very proud of the educational opportunities that we provide our students. We have high expectations for the achievement and personal conduct of our students.
As a College were not only focused on achieving success for all students, but also, on assisting the young people of our College develop into fine young men and women of superior character.
We strive to create a safe and friendly family environment where students can develop a passion for deep and lifelong learning.
Our teaching focus is to provide a quality well-rounded education based on Gospel values. The charisms of our Marist and Dominican founding orders live on in our expectation and community values today.
I extend an open invitation for you to visit the College and discuss how we can best meet your individual educational needs.
